Camera - Nikon D3000
Lens - Nikon 55-300 @ 300mm 5.6 3200
Mount - Star Adventurer

I decided to go for one of the larger objects for my first attempt. I got about 25 Lights at 20s each and then 20 dark, bias and flats.

I found it quite difficult to get the camera balanced while it was on a severe angle so I think I need to add a bit more to the counterweight. I was probably out of focus and alignment a bit too.

I had two goes at processing it in Photoshop. The second has a lot more noise but is a bit brighter. In the end I am really happy with it, considering about a month ago I didn't even know it was possible to photograph anything in space unless you are NASA!

Here is the link to the stacked TIF (https://www.dropbox.com/s/t29m6xp7t8ve6xx/Carina.TIF?dl=0) if anyone feels like having a look.
Any advice/opinions/criticism would be great! Cheers.

Great stuff Luke. there is definitely something about taking your own images which makes you appreciate these objects as real and tangible. i look forward to more of your shots
