Not very impressive, but someone has to define the lower limit on this forum :) All my images has a tendency of turning out.... cartoonish? (is that a word? Pardon my English.....)

Shot with my C9.25 with a 2,5x powermate and dbk 21 colorcam and using a Kendrick white light solar filter. An exposure time of 1/1370 s.
Best 5% out of about 6000 frames (the seeing is very variable).

My first image of the Sun with this equipment.

Preparing for tomorrows Mercury transit :)

You have managed to pick up a lot of nice granulation, you should be happy with that :)

very nice - ok granulation not tack sharp but its still a pretty good image. Id put my name on that ;) - but then again i am at your level ;)

probably limit the grabs to less than 30 seconds as the grains continually change minute by minute? i take it the DMK was at 60 frames/second so it would be about 100 seconds long

Thank you. A very good idea, I guess, to limit my sampling time to 30s. Wikipedia says that granules dissipate after 8 to 20 minutes. So maybe 30s is a reasonable capture time. I will try it later today, hopefully with Mercury in front :)

yes good luck with that transit - we don't get to see a thing - unless you stream it ;) LOL

a for the granulation this is where i got my information from

http://solar-center.stanford.edu/hidden-pic/poster.html

" This occurs because granules only survive for about 5 minutes."

You have produced a very nice white light image of AR2542. Agree with David's comments.
I have found 500 to 1000 images provide enough data with my DMK 21 mono camera, provided seeing is reasonable. Regards, Arthur
