Hi Guys.

My latest from the other night. A bit too much noise reduction I think, resulted in a bit of a "painted" look at 100% crop. Pretty keen to get a new mount for the camera so I can do some longer exposures, will be modding the 550d and getting an LP/IR filter too...

About 1/3 of the image is cropped due to field rotation being too evident.

Canon 550D
50mm f1.8 @ f4.5 iso1600 20sec
77x Lights
31x Darks
101x Bias

Very nice Tim, the colours are a little saturated for my taste, but that's a personal thing.

Quite nice :) I do like the saturation personally, has punch :)

Having done a wide field in this region a year or so ago, there should be a lot more in the area, star wise.

Light pollution was very heavy, you could see the light gradient clearly with the naked eye and it was very evident in the subs.

Tim, that looks great. You tracked that I am assuming due to the nice round stars and especially when using a 50mm lens on the. 550d, it is slightly telephoto on a cropped sensor. I like the shorter exoosure you chose, simetimes if tbere are too many other stars in the shot they distract and camouflage the subject, in this case Crux. Well done.

This is a stack of 30s exposures with no calibration frames at 112mm F/4. Was taken at my dark site so I can certainly understand what light pollution does to destroy a perfectly good image :P

Half tracked :P I use a goto dobsonian piggyback setup at the moment while I wait for a second hand heq5 to pop up.



Nice. Although I think I'm better off with less stars at the moment. Being that I'm only a beginner at all this and I'm using pixinsight, which is quite difficult to get my head around... But I am getting there.
