The Seagull Nebula in Ha

Another one. This is one of my favourite nebs in the Southern Hemisphere.

Its too low to image now. I have full narrowband and LRGB for this one so more on this one to follow. Plus CDK17 data for it to do a composite.

Yes I have lots of data for this one, LRGB, O111 and S11. So a narrowband image with LRGB stars is the plan. I am part way through processing it.

Looking good Greg, there is a lot going on in that frame.

When doing a HaOIIISIILRGB would you "combine" all of that data into one image and then process it or process many parts independently and then combine them all towards the end?

I do a narrowband image combine as usual then add the LRGB stars using a lighten layer in Photoshop.

Very nice Greg - I'm also looking forward for the color image.
Interesting - in northern hemisphere, IC 2177 is called the "Seagull nebula".

Yes Sky X seems to call this area the Seagull Nebula as well. Not sure what that is about.

Greg, I too look forward to your final version!

Again, I hesitate but this is what I'm seeing today. I zoomed in on the full size version. On the medium bright stars I see a little bulge pointing slightly east of north pretty much through the whole image. It almost looks like horizontal blooming of a KAF8300 binned 2x2 but I'm sure this isn't the case. It just kind of looks like it. Do you see it or am I imagining something?

There is a slight bulge. I have been working to correct it. I think its a small amount of flex. I don't always get it. It seems to be reduced in more recent images after various changes/tweaks. I have remounted the scope on the PME from the AP1600 to check if it was the mount but no it was similar on the PME. By the way the AP1600 has considerably better PE than the PME which is an excellent mount.

Had fun comparing it with your 2015 CDK17-plus-reducer shot. Both are excellent, and it does look like they could be profitably combined.
