Oops. Waited two years before I had the chance to go. Booked the accommodation, organised my mate to join me, invited friends in the astronomy club.
I forgot to register. Aaargh! Now full and closed (2 days ago)
Does anyone have a spare ticket?? I am sobbing onto my keyboard here. :help:

That is absolutely ridiculous. I keep attending the SPSP because I have a circle of friends I like to catch up and spend time observing with.
I am fortunate to have experienced many star parties around the world, which gives me a certain perspective to how the SPSP is run.
To hear you are being shutout makes me sad. You should turn up anyway, what are they going to do?

I just got off the phone to Leesa Moore, and I asked about registrations - yes, you can still rock up and register on site :)
It costs a little more this way, and sadly you miss out on some items, but you won't be turned away.

True, when I turned up from Queensland in 2005, it cost me an extra $10:00 for late registration.
So if you are happy to pay a late registration fee, just turn up.
Cheers:thumbsup:

Hi all
Thanks for your great support. I have contact the Treasurer and she was totally cool and said it would be alright to rock up, pay the extra $10 (no raffle ticket) and she is going to keep me in the loop with a registration pack etc. Very happy
I wont get there till late as I am driving 7 hours and she didn't think that would be a problem either.
Yayyyy!!

That's great Beth. Are you bringing along a telescope? The one thing I love about star parties, and the SPSP is how generous everyone is with their time and equipment. I've looked through 10 lifetimes of gear at star parties which is something I really enjoy.

I shall be bludging telescope time off others! I will be bringing my fancy binoculars though. With stabilising - very cool.

Bring a wish list of objects Beth, and I will be pleased to search them out with the 18". Looking through other people's scopes is one aspect of the SPSP I always enjoy.

And for those that are wondering, we have over 300 registered. Last year the final count was about 310. So are on track to exceed.

And at that number we are closing the books.
If you have not pre-booked or or pre-notified ASNSW of your attendance, please do not just rock-up.
While we have physical space, once we organise people into camping areas we do not, we also do not have appropriate water resources for an unlimited number of people, no space in the hall for lectures for that many people.
While the first 3 days are expecting clear weather, there is a threat of rain for the last day, and we still bear the scars in the lower camping ground from the last 350 people in a wet paddock SPSP in the year 2000.
