i am looking at purchasing unmounted 2" SII and OIII Baader filters (unless anyone wants to sell theirs) and i am noticing that my usual go to shop outside of Australia, OPT, is quite a lot more expensive then retailers in the UK or Europe, probably due to fluctuations in the dollar and prices not keeping up. Does anyone know of a good retailer in the UK or Europe, that has competitive prices and ships internationally?

Thanks

Try Modern Astronomy (Bern gives really good service here) http://www.modernastronomy.com/
Teleskop in Germany http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/
Hope that helps

thanks for that, it looks like Modern astronomy doesnt stock what i am after. it looks like if i buy from Teleskop it would be a $50 per filter saving over OPT, but judging from some of the other prices around, i think that could come down a bit if i find a retailer in the UK.

You are probably aware but just in case remember that the prices will include tax that will be taken off for an Australian purchase. If you create an account at TS it will automatically show you the corrected prices.
Also Bern at Modern Astronomy might be worth a email or phone call if there is something in particular you need.

wow, that made a huge difference, make that a $100 saving. goes to show it is worth shopping around, especially when you are looking at international dealers.

+2 on TS. OPT has always been an expensive place to buy from.

Telescope Express has a standard 36 Euro freight charge so it might be worthwhile getting everything in one go or share the freight with someone local to you.
They provide excellent service, I order from them frequently, as a matter of fact they are sending stuff to me today :D . (apparently too frequently if you ask my wife  )

I buy a fair amount of stuff from Teleskop -express, including my Baader narrowband filters. No complaints and price was good. As said below, there is no european VAT tax on exports outside the EU, so take that into consideration as it makes them cheaper. Create an account and you will get the export price presented. I do have an issue with their shipping charges, which i believe are too high, but if you can bundle purchases it gets more cost effective. Buying from the UK seems to give much lower shipping charges, and it coukd be worth investigating.

Nah they don't, I've asked them several times  There are other retailers that will however, just remember to ask them to quote ex-VAT for export outside the EU.

VAT in UK is 20%, in Germany 19%, so this would be deducted before the shipping cost is added.

TS must get a lot of non-EU business with their versatility and efficiency. Everything I've ordered from them has arrived on the second business day after ordering
