Now that you have all had a good steaming of clams, can someone advise on removing a RJ45 plug without too much loss (if any) of wire length? My 18" SDM uses one of these plugs to connect encoders to the Argo Navis stalk. The tab has broken so the plug falls out easily. I have new plugs + crimper and have done cables before, but I need to remove the old plug without losing length on the wire as there is not too much to spare!
thanks

Hey. You can put the new plug on even if it makes it shorter, and then use a RJ45 extender.

John, I used a stanley knife to cut the plug up rather than cutting it off. then straighten the wires to fit the new plug. Worked well
