Hi All,
I wonder if anyone has done any deep sky imaging using a Mirror Type Lens on a Canon, are these colour correct, and how about coma, as they are cheaper than ED type lenses, can they be used for Astrophotography ???.

cheers.....Jim

Hi Jim,
I had one years ago before the digital revolution and did take one or two pics piggybacked on a old C8. Can`t remember the brand anymore either.
I had no probs with false color though there were abberations in the corners like little arcs not round stars. Also in a pic or two there were reflections with bright stars. Also it was hard to get a real sharp focus with the film camera (shouldn`t be a prob with the DSLR).
If you have one I would certianly give it a go but I wouldn`t go and buy one for astroimaging. It would be a bit of a gamble unless you can try before you buy. Better of with a little Apo like a WO 66.
Cheers Gary

Hi Gary,
O.K. thanks for that, yes thinking about it and going on what you have said one would be better off with a Low F/D Scope of around 60 mm (Ed or APO that is) which would give the sought after wide field and reasonable light capture, ill look into it.

cheers......Jim
