I remember a few weeks ago Margo (Blackpearl) mentioned she was going to the Parkes Observatory to see John Dobson the inventor/creator of the Dobsonian. I also remember thinking how amazing it would be to meet the man and ask a few questions. I also remember thinking 'Parkes is a long way from here but it would be worth it'.

At our Astro Society meeting tonight we were informed that on the 15th April John Dobson is coming to our Ballarat Astro Society!!!!! Cool!

Instead of the usual dignitary meeting room lecture, this will be a low key 'BBQ, chat and get to know' affair. And no crowd, as we are currently down to 30 members and we have him all to ourselves.

I am thinking of taking my Dob mount along and one of those silver paint pens and ask him to sign it for me!

After I get up off my knees from bowing to him, does anyone have any questions you would like me to ask him for you.

p.s. Mike, I have tried to flog the site again at the Ballarat Society tonight. I think a couple of members are going to sign up.

He certainly gets around for a man in his 80's. Hope I am as fit at his age.
