April 10th. A new large sunspot has appeared on the eastern limb of the sun. AR 12529. It is not magnetically complex so may not produce many flares. This image was taken thru a WO 81 mm scope using a Herschel wedge at 540 nm and Canon 550d camera. Single exposure.
Diameter of umbra (core) is about 26,460 km with the penumbra (overall diam.) of 56,700 km.
Thanks for viewing. John W.
