Ahoy comrades!

Well, finally I have collected sufficient data and was able to put together a tri-colour version of these interesting nebulae.

Ha: 450 minutes
OIII: 570 minutes
S2: 350 minutes

This time I was after more subtle colours, but perhaps as a result of this new to me approach, the image now lacks in something...probably there will be a few revisions until I will be really happy with the image

Version 1:
High Resolution: http://www.astrobin.com/full/244211/0/
Full Resolution: http://www.astrobin.com/full/244211/0/?real=&mod=

Version 2:
High Resolution: http://www.astrobin.com/full/244211/B/
Full Resolution: http://www.astrobin.com/full/244211/B/?real=&mod=

Thank you for looking! :hi:
Suavi

P.S. Interesting info about these two nebulae: http://www.eso.org/public/australia/news/eso1425/

That's just brilliant mate! It has a sense of motion to it, like some incredible stellar wind is spreading the gas clouds.

nice and smooth Suavi, the extra data was well worth it!

Looks pretty cool but c'mon Suavi, quit kidding around! ;)
Subtlety is not your thing and you know it!

Show us the real Mccoy next

Aaaalriiiight!...the subtle detail outweighs the subtle colouring, excellent

Mike
althoooough....ya could give it a bit of chilli :D

Avast, and scuttle me mid-ships! One of the most beautiful images I've ever seen.

Doesn't lack anything to my eyes, Suavi. Amazing!

Dear Comrades,

Just did a few minor tweaks...:painting::bashcomp:

Was not entirely convinced about how genuine is that reddish patch in the top left corner, but after closer data inspection it appears legit to me.

Thank you for looking :hi:

Thank you Graham :)

Thank you Russell. I would love to at least double my OIII and SII data of this target to include them in the luminance, maybe next year... :)

Thanks Andy...it's really tempting to go wild with the colours, but I will try to resist...ahhhhh!

I love chillies! My Carolina Reapers are just ripening on the bushes...need a volunteer though to do a taste test

Thank you for kind words Master Jedi Mike.

Very happy that you like it, it really made me appreciate your efforts trying to get enough data on this target and to process it decently...thank you for your very kind feedback :)

Glad you like it Lee :)

I liked the boldness of the bi-colour but the subtle tri-colour version is growing on me, Suavi

Suavi, version 1 does it for me. I really like this adaptation, the colours are dark and brooding, great detail. Sometimes i think false colour can be overdone, don't change it, a truly beautiful image.

I do prefer the second with its extra punch :) Looks fantastic! Has been great watching it slowly come together :)

Impressive!

I really like how you've captured the inter-stellar gale in version 2. My only critique is the field stars exhibit (almost) zero colour-temperature variation.

A delightful rendition of a beautiful region of our southern skies just the same!

Thank you Rick, for some strange reason this project evolved in a bit different direction. The truth is I like experimenting and exploring new to me avenues in astrophotography :)

Thanks George! Yeah, I usually overdo colour, so this time I decided to take much less paint...

Thank you Colin. I also like the second version more, as it shows more nebulosities. I like experimenting with the data throughout a project to see how things are shaping up :bashcomp:

Thank you Peter. Yes, white stars look a bit dull and are a result of my processing. Would love to add RGB stars, but my doublet at f5.6 is quite horrible in capturing RGB data...

I love this version, precisely because of the subtle hues, Suavi - especially that ethereal blue in the upper left. I think you are 'painting with light' here! Great work again.

Cheers,
Richard

Love to, you going to SPSP...? :D

Thank you for your encouraging feedback Richard :painting::violin:

No problemo, got also Trinidad Scorpions for a wider range of flavours :)

SPSP- of course I can do Scientific Priority Sitting Process...you are first in the line

Nicely done Suavi. I like the composition too. Version 2 gets my vote but there isn't a lot in it.

Cheers

Hi Suavi,
I like version 2.
You have really set the bar high with this one -
it's beautiful.
The quality is going up & up on Ice in Space.

cheers

Thank you gents for such nice feedback.

I think the images are getting better because the equipment (including software) in constantly evolving, and for me personally I put much more time into making an astro photograph than I used to; not long ago I was convinced that astro imaging is a point-and-shoot kind of affair

An amazing final photo Suavi.

Sharp and so detailed.

I love the composition.

A great result!

Ross.

Thank you Ross. I tried to be very gentle with processing to preserve the data, so no decon nor star reduction. I only used a very tiny amount of noise reduction in darker areas, a pinch of local histogram equalisation applied to brighter areas and also minuscule sharpening in bright areas too. That's pretty much it.

One day I may reprocess the data in my usual manner, meaning overdoing contrast, totally disrespecting light and over saturating colours

Nice work Suavi. The palette is pleasing and the detail is very sharp looking. Overall I think it is a winner.

Very nice. Version 1 appeals to me more than version 2 though.
