1st light hm made 10"f4 newt

Hi all,
after much adjusting and sorting out a few minor issues with my home built newt astrograph, after my Bob Royce primary rolled up last Thursday, I think i've almost got things sorted.
After band practice last night the sky miraculously cleared.
I had to check my collimation and MPCC spacing to see if all was ok... so after finding things looked good, I kept going.
Super short exposures, and my mount which I bumped hard earlier on was out. :doh:But managed to scrape in 20sec exposures.

You look like you have a great setup there. Love that new scope. Wish I could throw that on my gm-8. I have certianly learned a lot making my little 6" newt astrograph which I am still modifying. Everything has to be so rock steady and strong not like a normal newt where movement etc doesn`t matter...

Be good to see your results , also be interested in how well your mirror cell works , the meade one is still a bit of a week point in my set-up and also if there is no flexture in the tube I may go the same way.
Never seam to stop tinkering with these scopes.

Fantastic image Rich, amazing amounts of detail and clarity.
I just put it full screen and it certainly jumps out and grabs you.

Excellent setup there.
The MPCC will be correcting any coma from his F4 optics, and believe me, they work great.

Thank you guys.... Night sky, Gary, Zane, Ric, Mark S, Scott, Lester and Louie.
Has been 3 months from ordering things to finish. You learn a little more patience with building such projects but in the waiting it's a good time to think and rethink things.:doh:
Mark, I'm using the MPCC corrector. It does seem to do a good job with coma, but I hate the way these sit in with the compression ring. I have to get it spot on, 90 degs to the imaging plane... and it's never consistant when reinserting the ccd/ corrector to the focuser. A threaded model would have been much better I think. But I guess I'll have to get it tegether better.

Zane, I beginning to know what you mean by tinkering... the primary cell I made I hope to wil do the job. There was only 2 options with the conical primary. The carbon fibre setup by Dream were way too expensive and the other was an alluminium design. I'll see how my humble cell goes for the time being. Early days.
