Hi all Astro'liano's ,,,

I thought it was safe enough to place a scope 'being the Meade 12 acf' on the Cosmo Caboose Pier at Galaxy Station now Im done with cutting 'crete and pavers for underground cabling

Was exciting to just throw the dslr into it and have a peek at Juup 'live vid mode'
The atmosphere was rather steady, tho transparency being murky cut down on sharpness !
Juupter 2 prog showing some Moon and shadow transits through this time - tho not seen in this Image, , either processing, conditions or timing may be the cause, it was great to have the GRS captured at the disc's center longitude area. Some nice Festoons on display & happy to resolve the odd white storm with in other belt zones

12"Meade with 4x Powermate,,, hand focus :D,,, Dslr in 3x crop video mode @ approx 24FPS for approx 1min 13 sec producing near 1750 frames.
50% stack in Registax 6, wavelengths applied and further PS levels, noise, sharpen ect..
Final image shown has been sized reduced by 50% to hide some horrors, not a classy hi-res image, but this duck is happy with it ..

Hope it worth a Squizz,

Ps, them Zwo asi cool cams look very attractive

nice one Bob, i tried to have a crack the old dslr the other day too, nowhere near as good as this though, also umming and ahhing on a ZWO (even the non cooled versions) - getting it before Mars opposition would probably be a good idea.

Thanx Russell ,,

Non cooled sounds good - I'll be trying the qhy5 next - when better set-up with the lappy & a motor focus of sorts wouldnt go astray, Lol
Oh and sky conditions are rare this way ,,, all in this hobby's pastime  :cool3:

Hi Bob
Thanks for your comments on my post.
Re focusing, I still use hand focusing with a fine focuser (with a Bahtinov mask) - no motor:lol:. Using F25 I find that focusing is so affected by seeing that the extra few mm accuracy gained with the motor doesn't really make a difference. Just get those bahtinov spikes nicely aligned
Cheers Domenic

Using a bahtinov Mask with hand-focusing for greater sharpness wouldn't surprise me Domenic, , but might be un-able to do with Jupiter when it takes up over half the camera's chip -

Tho, might be possible on one of the moons if bright enough ?
Worth a shot eh ?
How do you do with jupiter

:cool2:

Hi Bob,
I focus and collimate on a near by bright star, not the planet. I'm using Denebona (below Jupiter) at the minute for Jupiter. A flip mirror helps me find Jupiter after the goto, as it can be quite tricky with a Barlow. The ASI120MC has a large FOV, which I then crop down to size to fit.

Interesting Domenic, seems to work very well indeed

Must try this, easy enough, thats for sure, good stuff :cool2:

Nice one Bob. Using one of the moons to focus is definitely possible, that's what I do :D

Agree Dunk, If/When they are in the field i watch them for focus, never occurred to me to go aside and find another when not there

Ill sure keep it in mind tho - now :D

:thanx:
