This topic came up a while ago and my recollection is that it didn't produce strong views for or against. Some said:
Just set it to daylight and process the pink fog out;
set temp to 4000 degrees
use full grey-card custom WB technique.
probably some other ideas as well.
All said shoot in RAW.

I was wondering if there was any more discussion going about this given the increased numbers of modified DSLRs that seem to be out there these days.

The subject is topical for me because I'm about to go walkabout with a light rig (FSQ85EDX on a HEQ5Pro) and deciding whether to take my modified 350D or the QHY10. The Canon would probably be easier to set up and use. I also have a peltier-based cooler box for it so I ought to be able to image at good temps with it. But my concern is with the processing and the red fog.

I plan shooting only in RAW and will probably use Nebulosity 4 or BEOS for capture and PHD2 for an OAG.

Anyone?

I don't know if this is the best method:

I made a custom white by taking an image of a white sheet of paper in sunlight. This gives a pink colour and helps balance out the pink/brown caused by light pollution.

I just use the 'floro'balance setting.
