Just playing around with a 1.4ext on the 500mm lens when this Curlew walked up to see what I was doing. One of those rare times where I wished I had less magnification.ISO set to 800(late in tha arvo)1/160s f5.6.Jpeg straight out of camera.

I have bush stone curlews in my garden nesting every year this year they produced two fine chicks now grown.
I wish i had a better lens for my dslr than the 300mm kit lens.
Nevertheless I have some nice pics as they let me fairly close as they are used to me.
Your pic is super and so different from mine..

It's good to here the chicks fledged this poor pair usually loose their young one to Foxes or dogs even though it's a protected area.

Our curlews lost their first pair of chicks, but the second pair for the season are ok.

Yes Trev same lens but I put the 1.4 ext iii on it just for fun not as good late in the arvo for focusing but not bad. After a week or so I,ll put it on the 6D and see how it goes in low light.Just a great lens but so is my old 400mm f5.6 .
