Seriously can you believe this. The gun law thing in the USA really is a joke.

An unrestrained 4 yo and an unrestrained handgun in a car, bad mum. Some people shouldn't have kids or guns.

What's even worse is that earlier today I saw on the news that police are not looking at charging her with any offence. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!.

i for one think that if every 4 year old had a loaded gun with no safety on, there would be no crime at all! we need every kindergarten to rally in support of their constitutional right to bear arms! FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

I wonder if the safety was on and the kid able to take it off safety.
So wrong in many levels.
.45 cal will leave a nasty wound I expect
I sometimes think they are crazy over there byte no doubt its only a few...hopefully

Something odd here. If it was a 1911 then there is no way a 4 year old could have got his fingers around the grip (the safety is actually the rear of the grip and needs to be squeezed). Also, these are single action semis and need to be cocked first. Anyone dumb enough to leave a loaded 1911 lying around with the hammer back is asking for it.
its almost a shame the existence of the child makes her ineligible for a Darwin Award.

She taught the child how to fire a gun, but I think she forgot the mandatory safety lecture.
One of the first rules is to not have a round in the chamber until you are ready to shoot, to prevent an acidental discharge.

That's all well and good in theory, but you try and tell that to my boys! :help3:

My 1911a1 had a stiff spring because of the muzzle deflector taking up space that the spring usually took.
But even an ordinary 1911 was too stiff for most women to cock never mind a child.
Which means the hammer was already back with a round in the chamber. Normally known as attempted suicide.

The kid was FOUR! At that age, they have no conceptual framework to understand what a gun is and what it can do. That imbecile mother needs to do hard time for even contemplating letting a kid have access to a gun. So many stupid people in that country...

I wonder what are the stats are for "unloaded gun" accidental deaths and injuries.

I wonder what mum is saying on face book.
Often folk blame everyone but themselves I bet she blames the democrates .....

Definitely a low caliber mum.

And why didn't they charge the kid for not wearing his seat belt.

This is the kind of thing that ruins it for the rest of us, and gives ammunition (excuse the pun) to those who have a chip on their shoulder and want to disarm everybody.

Disgraceful.

I think that the biggest problem with the USA is that many people carry weapons for self defence, and an unloaded gun is not usefull in a self defence situation.
In comparison Australians are only allowed to have guns for recreational purposes and it is illegal to posses any weapon for self defence, so guns and ammunition have to be stored and transported in separate containers and locked up when not in use.
This is really bad parenting, I mean seriously how could you forget that you left the 45 on the backseat? :screwy:

Left it on the back seat cocked and with one up the spout.

what could possibly go wrong.
It is bad enough to leave the damn thing on the back seat but cocked and as you say one up the spout is criminally negligent in my view.
And she does not get charged ... I have seen those cop shows where they throw a j walker to the ground and cuff him.
A 45 no less that's as big as you get short of a .50 cal for stopping a bear.
I like the utube vids where they bring out their machine guns and blast old gas cylinders and pumpkins...and they even have a mini gun...what's that 3000 rounds per minute...great choice for hunting.

It's an unnecessary tragedy.
The gun laws are an amendment to the constitution and so can be amended again, but the money poured into election campaigns from the gun lobby is just too much for them to say no to. And then your in their debt.
Stupid way to run a country. I mean, who needs to be able to buy fully automatic guns, and rocket launchers?
I new a guy here (respected businessman) who had a firearms shop. He couldn't wait for fireworks night so he could go to his stash out in the countryside and play with his old WWII machine gun.
The attraction is at times like obsessive disorder, and the very idea that you cannot live without a gun, the same.

I like the doomsday prepers.
I recall one with over 100,000 rounds and many guns stored.
So any other starving survivors of doomsday will get their empty belly filled with lead...or maybe depleted uranium.
