Hi
Before imaging the months callenge object, I found Abell 66 on Star Atlas Pro, so decided to try for it. Terminated after 2 shots due to cloud (which later cleared) 1x15 and 1x13 mins ISO 400, UHC-S and uv/ir filters, modded 350D 10 inch f5.6 newtonian.
A66 is mag 14.9 and large, so surface brightness is VERY low. I wasnt even sure I had it till I stacked the images.

Thanks :)
When I bought my scope back in 1986, its limiting mag. was sait to be 13, photographic 14, and that was point sources like stars, not extended objects like this. Digital imaging sure brings pushes back the limits.

Hi Scott, 14.9 is very faint indeed, thats top stuff to have captured it.
Any plans to get more images to add to it?

cheers
