Anyone able to see the total eclipse today?

The clouds are parting :) so in with a chance, but we are at the bottom edge of the partial eclipse here in Mackay, so about 6%. Will take a few pics and post them.

Edit: The clouds kept coming over but I managed a couple of pics. This was taken about mid eclipse, there's a couple of sun spots visible (and my sensor needs a clean by the looks of it).

Saw my 12th total eclipse this morning from Ternate Indonesia.

Some high thin cloud made it less than perfect but we got a very reasonable view through the thin cloud.

Glad you had another good one Joe.
We had success too, south of Palu in Central Sulawesi. I had camera issues around totality so only got one or two frames of corona, but we had a ST80 setup for visual and that was excellent.

Hi Susan,
Well done, you have some good resolution and exposure there. I used a 102mm achro refractor and my pic looks pretty ordinary. But my solar filter fits on the centre hole in the cap, so is only really 37mm aperture. I really need to update my solar filters.

Greetings from Yap! Chris Douglass and I watched it from Woleai with a group of 15 people from TEI tours, an absolutely beautiful sixth totality for both of us. Still have to upload photos, it took a while to get back to Yap from the Woleai atoll.

Hi Rick,

thanks for the comments. I've got a full aperture glass filter - it's not marked but I think it's an Orion solar filter. It wasn't much - only about $120 or so.

To all those that went up to Indonesia or Malaysia or Yap or where-ever - I'm sooo jealous!

I was thinking of heading up there somewhere, but couldn't really justify the cost.

I was also thinking of going to Reunion for the 01 Sept 2016 eclipse, except that's only an annular.

The next possibility is August 2017 in North America. There's a scientific conference about a week before in Colorado, and as it's vaguely related to my work, I might be able to swing it and also claim the trip as a work trip!

Not from here. Of course there were no clouds, as is usually the case when there is an event that is not visible, while the clouds are always there when there is an event that is visible. Fingers crossed for the penumbral lunar eclipse, although of course it is not like the blood moon...

For me not, but on the same location in Sumatra I saw an eclipse on 18 Mar 1988 (the only total I ever saw).

On 2028 Jul 22 there will be a total eclipse right in Sydney. Path crosses over NE of WA, NT, QLD and NSW.

and don't forget 2023 in Exmouth, WA!

My daughter has seen 3 partials so far, and is already making plans for me to take her to Exmouth in 2023 to see the hybrid/total there.

It just grazes North West Cape.
