Hi all

Finally, my transit cases for the LB12 are ready and they have already been out for their first test drive.

Excellent workmanship inside and out, easy to transport, light and yet sturdy. The case for the trusses is on the way. Can provide more pics on request. Excellent service from the guys at Transit Pak Cases of Thomastown and thanks to Troy and George - esp Peter Read (SDM) ;)

Those cases look good. Did you get them specially made, or are they a standard item? Any idea of cost??:) How thick is the foam rubber underneath the mirror box ? - On a recent trip in the back of the car (no foam) on just 10 klm of gravel road all the mirror screws fell out!!:mad2:

Hi Jimmy

Cases were specially made for the LB12. Cost for the cases $300, a much better alternative to the cardboard and foam Meade box, which was starting to tear a little. Foam is on all sides (inc top) and have already given the cases a test drive on a dirt road - (no screws falling out).

Excellent workmanship - and would recommend to all 8-12" LB owners. Will check the measurements of the foam and post very soon.

Cheers Petra

Very nice Petra. Are the case-makers the same guys that produce the cases for SDM?

Hi Rod

Yes you are right - Peter suggested that I contact his supplier. I am totally thrilled with the final product. You have reminded me to drop Peter an email to thank him for the contact.

Hi petra,
Can I bother you for the order details that you have made, as it would save me reinventing the wheel !!
I will order one the same as , so I can transport my 12" LB as well.

You can PM me or just put it here if you are able to do so.

Thanks
John

Petra,

They look good. Please post an image of the truss case when it arrives. I haven't yet contacted Transit Pak but I think I shall soon. Do the cases add much to the weight of the components?

One thing I have done to make the unit more transportable is to follow the lead of Bill on the Meade LB Yahoo group and modify the cradle and base for quick disassembly/assembly. See thread starting at 1119 and associated images. Neat and very effective. A drill press is useful but not essential.

Will do

Im getting a bit anxious on that one, must give them a call and see where it is up to.
