A very busy Jupiter this week!
Io and Europa in a double transit with their shadows last night - views in RGB (x2), 850nm infrared and methane.
On Wednesday - Jupiter's largest moon, Ganymede began a shadow transit, while Red Spot Jr sat on the meridian, most visible in IR.

All taken with ASI185MC, 200mm Newtonian at f/30 (f/15 for methane), stacks of around 1000 of 3,000-10,000 frames each over up to 3 minutes each. Seeing was not amazing both nights, and Jupiter was <40deg high.

Good catch given the conditions.
I was set up at a dark site in Northen Tas for a visual observation of the transits. Seeing was average but at least I could see the two moon shadows. The GRS transit at the same time was a bonus.

Always good to catch a transit.
We have a double on the 11th.

Yes, I will be out to observe the double transit late on the 11th, weather permitting. I have seen quite a few of these and other multiple moon events over the years.

Steve.

Thanks all, yes it was fun to have so much action on the planet! Don't think I'll be awake for the events this weekend, hope you guys can catch them.
