Imaged Jupiter Feb 28th in reasonable seeing. Have good coverage of the fine detail in the region preceding and following Oval BA.

Imaged Saturn this morning, Feb 28th, The seeing had been reasonable for Jupiter 3 hrs earlier but was disappointing for Saturn at higher alt.
I have reasonable 685nm IR data but r, g & b were rather poor.
Nothing stands out for me in this IR data.

Trevor

Great captures Trevor, I haven't had the strength to stay awake for Saturn yet.

Saturn's hexagon pole is getting clearer with rising altitude.

IR does give better detail. Have you compared 685 vs 742nm filters?

Regards, John.

Thanks Graeme.

Thanks John, yes, have used 685, 742 and 807. This new camera will run any one of them at 70 fps with a histo of approx 90% and a heap of gain left over. All of these filters really are long pass so work well with this sensor which extends its sensitivity well into the IR.

Thanks Phil, must say when I do get a few consective nights of Jup & Sat I seem to be running on empty for longer than normal. Age is catching up with me, the mind is willing but the body sure is slowing down.

Thanks Maurice.
