View Full Version here: : Woops! Droppings of a newbie!
Dear members, you have been very kind to my "are we there yet" type questions, tonight after 3 months of learning, and being very careful about everything, I got brazenly overconfident and dropped my Meade 0.63 focal reducer! The celestron scope made me do it, I swear! In any case, when I shake it, there is a tiny rattle from the play in the lens, is that normal? It seems to be working fine, as far as I can tell, but what should I be looking for? Can I test it somehow?
Thanks in advance

There should not be a rattle. I can't comment as my reducer is a Celestron one but typically there will be a lock ring threaded into the assembly that should keep the internals snug. You might be able to carefully nip that up just a touch.
I say carefully on purpose, it should be just firm enough to hold everything in place rather than tight and the screw flats to do it up will likely be very close to glass that you do not want to scratch.
