C925 and alternative focus options

Dear members,

I understand that my sct focus knob moves the primary. After 3 months of using this, my first scope, I've found that the knob doesn't allow for very fine ficus control and there is significant vibration at med-high powers.

What alternative options are there? I'm strictly visual at present but getting started with dslr prime focus.

Get a 10:1 micro focuser from starizona. They're very good value for money. Garry Beal (gbeal) had one for sale on the classified not long ago. Check if it's still for sale.

:thumbsup: I fitted one ot these , very nice bit of gear just be sure to get the right one as there are 2 types for the C9.25;s .

5 minutes to fit but they dont come with instructions and you have to go to FT's web page for these but its no big deal .

Are the focusers that move the eye piece or ccd any good? Leaving the primary fixed in position?

I have wondered about them, but there is no way to lock the mirror in place so mirror flop is still possible.

I put a featertouch on my C925 and it is a big improvement on the standard focusser. Have a look on their website, they have a sales page for cosmetic seconds which mine is but I can not find a blemish of any sort. Maybe the anodising is not the right colour.

do the feather touch micro focusers allow room for a dslr at prime focus?

Yes, a DSLR will still fit.....
The microfocuser also improves any residual mirror flop due to the more rigid/ robust/ quality connection between the mirror and the rear cell.
I had very little mirror flop/flop on the C9.25 and even better on my C11.
