Bit early in the season but I managed some subs last new moon with some data from last year and that gave me enough subs to get some colours on this beautiful object in Ara. All up 10x10min. Colours are coming through nicely.

Same rig again FSQ106N/G11/QHY8.

70% here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/NGC6188_FSQ106N_70.jpg)[2066x1379 - 3.8MB]
HD version here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/NGC6188_FSQ106N_HD.jpg)[1920x1281 - 3.3MB]

Used Startools to enhance the neb outline out of the starfield and there shouldn't be much green left. :)

Thanks Pete. It's a great area to image at any FL. I'll be doing a lot more of it this season for sure.

Seems almost odd to see it in LRGB after all the narrowband versions. Nice work, Marc! It's a lovely object either way.

Cheers,
Rick.

A bit of H-alpha would give it more punch, but a nice result just the same

Thanks mate. Yes a lot of NB around on this one. I did a lot of Ha only on it in the past. It's nice to do colour a bit now. If I recall right Marcus (amongst others) would always say "so how about some color now" on many Ha shots I posted so now I'm doing a bit of color you guys want Ha? What's going on?

:) I rest my case. Thanks Peter, but that's your Alluna accustomed vision talking here. You've looked for too long at tiny stars. Your retina is corrupted. There is no turning back now. :P Point taken. I haven't done any Ha on this one with the FSQ so on my todo list.

Nice, very nice. I think it's the first colour rendition I've seen.

Have you moved or something, from memory your skies are very light polluted?

That's so refreshingly different, Marc.

Had lots of fun comparing the RGB version with your previous H-alpha version of the central regions. Great!

Best,
Mike

Nice one Marc. Great star colour, looking good, loads of opportunity to add more but seems fine as is to me.

Thanks Mike. I've certainly hammered this one over the years in Ha. That was my first long exposure hyperstar trial as well. I've even got all FL in NB with various lenses. Color is hard on this because it's such a dense region of the milkyway you can hardly see the neb embedded in it so RGB shots are usually boring unless you cheat a bit and enhance the nebulosity out the stars.

Thanks David. I agree it doesn't look too bad but most of the data was shot at Mike's place (Placidus) last year and this year data mostly through the water tower at the house at Ilford because it's still that low.
I think the left side of the field has a lot more colours and contrast to offer and as it's going to be in season soon I'll make sure I get plenty on it. :)

Thanks Rob. Tell me about it. It's been hard this summer. I can't remember getting that many hot days and nights in a row.

Hello Marc,

A great looking photo.

The FSQ produces very sharp images.

Good to see a "real colour" version of this region.

Ross.
