Hoping the helpful community can advise

I recently changed from DSLR to an Orion Starshoot (v1) for imaging

It reached focus but right at the back focus limit which leaves the scope dangerously unbalanced. Short of adding weight to the front of the scope (ED80) I'm not sure what the solution is. Adding an extension tube might bring focus closer in but still leaves the dec balance issue.

Any help greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Niko

I know that the ST-80 needs an extension tube for either na eye piece or their autoguider to come into focus.
I can imagine that balancing it with a DSLR may look awkward.

I recently solved a similar problem with my ED80 - a longer dovetail (14") gave enough room to balance correctly.

thanks guys - yes, I suspected a longer dovetail might be called for.

the only thing that worries me is the longer the focus tube is drawn out the more strain being put on it and possible increase in flexure.
