After bloodhound's video links to those great youtube vid's, I became inspired to see if I could make a slideshow with music of our shots of our website ect. and upload to YouTube myself - well after much frustration I made my first blockbuster :nerd: , but when uploaded to youtube, they mangled and reduced it too much for my liking.
So I have uploaded it to my personal webspace instead - I have been interested in combining my two great passions for a while after trying to make a dvd for my mate and myself a while ago - I noticed a soundtrack makes it interesting to view, something any film maker would know, take music out of a lot of movies these days and they would seem pretty dull possibly.
Anywayz - did use panning and zooming in imovie, (while it looked awesome, it didnt like it and behaved buggily, at least in 10.3.9 - need to start using 10.4.+ possibly,) which also made the file gigantic :scared: , none of them seem to like 'dissolve' between shots, except when you make a dvd, idvd works nice. anyway blah blah, so used iphoto instead, which was also buggy for this! buggy mac proggies, i'm shocked!
here's the 7.5 MB!!! quicktime movie link - its my first attempt! just dragged most of the pics of our website - and threw them in, different way of looking at them :) all pics from myself or Stewart
and Firefox might be the go as the browser? worked for me

anyone else game to make one?
and oh yeah turn up your sound!!!

I will try to download your work if the phone line allows it but I must say I have been working on a similar thing with two mates, one with a small adio recording studio and one with vast vidio and TV experience. The production was received very well by friends but we did nothing more and I have lost my copies anyways.
I thought it would be cool to have suitable eye candy to go with suitable ear candy to take a trip around the Universe to allow mortals to wonder at the grandness beauty and scale of it all.
You may have hit on a market need also.. a hoster that will carry larger files seems to be needed

Sorry about the size :ashamed: (and the fact its not zipped!) but as you probably know Alex, an artiste must never compromise! :painting:
Do you mean a slideshow with stills like this, or of video Alex?
I know windows media player does a similar thing, so I read, I don't know if thats the full version only tho.
I got the next version of ilife for my mac, and the HDidvd and HDimovie are both capable of doing widescreen and High Definition modes it says :)
as i said, never had a problem with idvd on the mac, just lacked the HD, that rocked for slideshows/music.
One problem i had, was they do a better job with large and quality web versions of your images, than small web versions, as the source, which means i have to go back and rescan quite a few shots to get a decent dvd version, unfortunately :scared: lotta work, thats why i liked the web version idea more :)

Congrats Kearn! :)
What a super image and sound sequence. LOVE the music - what is it? That hit of slide guitar into the solar eclipse sequence was a doozy - wonderfully timed.
Great effort! You may have started something......
Cheers
Chris

wow thankyou guys!
look out! long winded waxing lyrical spiel 'wide load' following -
I wish it was one of mine LOL! nope, music is courtesy of a freakin genius :) someone who I, and many others, have long suspected of not being of this earth, a strange and wonderful gift from the universe to the people of earth.
He has been my numero uno influence and hero, by a looooong way, for over 25 years now, starting with his yardbirds days.
I will even have JB music therapy days when I'm in a bad way, just listen to all his albums especially from 'there and back', c1980, onwards, one after another (except for the awful '80s contractual obligation album 'flash'), and will come out buzzing and recharged!
I have always had the impression that quite a lot of his pieces had a strange space feel, wether intentional or not?, is it just the power of the strat?
some tracks would always remind me strongly of the feeling of nights under the stars (he does have some spacey tracks with titles like 'starcycle' and 'space boogie' on the George Martin produced/Jeff Beck masterpiece album 'there and back' but thats as far as the connection goes AFAIK?
There are several of his album tracks I could of easily used instead of this one - 'the final peace' off 'there and back' was a close second,
The track i used is the oddly named? 'why lord oh why?' (hehe) final track off his 2003 album simply called 'jeff'
I have to admit to being a Jeff Beck evangelist of sorts, and i have strong desire to influence people into knowledge and appreciation of his stuff - sorry!
check out some of his live clips on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jeff+beck&search=Search
here's a selection to give you a taste of the phenonemon that is jeff beck
a recent one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reuK2msTzec
here's a space boogie type one 'star cycle'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yoiofXqzXE
and have to include the very beautiful 'nadia' - which is a staged part of a japanese interview (the Japanese appear to revere him like a God)
second of half of vid is the staged 'live' track spine tingling beck at his best imo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLhZMUbJAAs
have had the great fortune to see him live twice - same tour, london hammersmith odeon c1990 'guitar shop' tour - and he is evn better live!!! never pays the same thing the same way twice - a total freak, just oozes talent :-)))) (hasnt been to oz since the '70's  )
buddy guy live is the only guitarist that has come close live imo
sorry bout the long post - get me talking on JB and you'll be sorry everytime :P

I started making an Astronomy CD video about a week ago with help from Terry (Spudrick).
Kearns and Grus's vids above are excellent and will keep me working on mine.
Great work guys.
Overall, the quality is quite good, couple of areas like the disolves as you pointed out, also the writing in blue was a big mistake, white in arial came out better in later videos, its all a learning curve.
Hoping next Dry Season to put together a nice collection of DSO's. but thats another adventure:lol:
