For sale is my Obsession Classic 18" f/4.2.
This telescope is essentially brand new, in mint condition, and has had only very light use. It is for sale as I can't justify the cost to the other (and most important) half when it's just sitting there.
No expense was spared in the accessories.
Specs are:
- 18 inch f/4.2 Obsession Classic
- Galaxy mirror strehl ratio 0.951 with certificate including interferogram and wavefront map
- Primary coated with enhanced aluminium - 96% reflectivity with dielectric overcoat
- Secondary coated with super enhanced Brilliant-Diamond multi-dielectric coating with 96% reflectivity at 550 nm
- Starlight Instruments Feathertouch Focueser
- Argo Navis DSC with High Res 32K encoders
- Stellarvue 13x80 premium quality finderscope with amici prism and quick release finder rings installed
- Dew heater for secondary mirror
- Telrad on quick release platform
- Obsession ripstop nylon lightshroud
- Counterweight kit

This obviously cost me a significant amount of money and, given the telescope is basically brand new, I'm looking to recover a reasonable amount of what I paid. The cost of the scope new plus all above accessories is US$8,950. Add freight to Australia which for me was US$2,500 and import duty of roughly A$1,250 and the total cost of the scope is around $17,000 in Australian dollars.
I am asking for $8,750 for all of the above. Pick up only in Western Australia.
I don't wish to negotiate on price as I'm already losing a significant amount of money on this. On the other hand, at least someone will have a brand new Obsession for a fraction of the price of new from the US.
