Summer Milky Way

I am a visual astronomer but 15 years ago I took a heap of camera on tripod pics. This image was taken at Nelson Bay, NSW in April 1993. I used a Nikon FM2 camera with a 16mm full frame fisheye lens. The film was Ektar 1000 pushed 1 stop.

Great image Mick, the fisheye lens really adds an interesting perspective to images.

The image was taken from where I lived, in the units on the right. It's on a hill overlooking the marina just a stones throw from the town centre.

I have heaps of old negs, many have never been printed. One day I will buy or rent a film scanner and digitize all my old astro images :)
