Only had this telescope for about six months now and am only selling it because I have decided to upgrade to the new 130mm Sextuplet that Sky Rover have released, picking it up in a week or two. Doing it almost entirely to not have to worry about getting sub micron precision in spacers haha
I have plans to run some astrophotography nights for my photography club and a couple of others we have ties with, almost cheaper to buy a new telescope than get Precise Parts to make all of the spacers!

So, the telescope. It itself is in excellent condition. Never touched the optics although wind has passed over the front of it. So as with anything that has been outdoors, it does have some dust on it but you can clean it if you wish, wouldn't even bother with it to be honest.

Comes with a huge 4" focuser and if you wish to be able to connect a RoboFocus, I (or at least Meru) has designs for an adapter which connects to the finder scope holes. I found that a bit more stable than connecting to the bottom of the focuser due to its shape (rounded and not flat).

Also comes with a 0.8x flattener reducer which has a corrected 42m imaging circle for full frame cameras (36x24mm). Never tested it as I don't have the correct spacing for my Nikon D700. Has a back focus of 54.8mm which I imagine is enough for most systems unless you want to use a MMOAG.

The only damage (cosmetic) is on the dovetail plate from the two bolts on the EQ6 head. They could possibly near entirely vanish with some permanent marker but I'm not willing to try :P

Comes with a hard case, it's pretty hard, hence the name.

Had it out at Heathcote a fortnight ago just for visual purposes, I was amazing by how much I could see with a 5" telescope. Seeing allowed to easily see the E and fleetingly see the F stars in Orion with my terribly untrained eyes. Did most of my observing with a Meade 5000 4.5mm (planetary and doubles) and a 9mm (galaxy and planetary nebula). Seeing didn't allow the splitting of some doubles but I could easily resolve the shape of Antennae but couldn't see the new SN in Centaurs A :/ Guess I need my 12" dob for that; faint little sucker.
For viewing planets and the moon it blows the socks off my 10" SCT in detail, bigger is better unless it doesn't acclimatise!

Looking for $4,000 negotiable for the telescope, rings, 0.8x flattener/reducer and hard case.
Just as a note, this ad is only going to be up for a week or so. If it hasn't sold before my new one arrives I've be trading it in when I go to pick the new one up. Cris said it would arrive in about a month a few weeks ago so it cannot be far off now :P

Okay, raided my backup hard drive for some stuff, only have a small SSD on my laptop so I don't keep much of anything on there.

The first is a curvature map of 6 frames from NGC 2070.

The second is a stack of 25x5s Luminance flat frames and yes, there are some dust motes on there that I have been too lazy to clean up until now.

These are taken with my QHY9, I know the spacer that I have for the flattener to my camera is 1.5-2 mm out of spec. QHY publish that the QHY9 is 15mm from the front plate to the sensor but it is actually to the CCD chamber, an extra 1.5-2 mm from the chamber glass to the CCD itself. I found one mention of it on their forum in a single post from a couple of years back.... Very bad form if you ask me...

I am considering the purchase of a 130 off Cris. I have a 115 Sky Rover with the triplet fluorite objective that I am considering selling to fund the 130. It is an excellent scope in mint condition and new would now retail about $3,500 if still in production. This leads me to my question:
Would you be interested in a deal which would be an exchange of scopes + $1,500 cash?
Just a proposal...
