Hi to all, I`m a first time user for your site. And by the looks I wish I`d found you 2 years ago, when I first set out to photograph a Galaxy. Lots of equipment later, hours of reading manuals, many nights wasted I`m finally taking what I think are great shots.
I was led to your site while trying to find the answer to a question regarding
Autostar Envisage software V 5.85. so here goes!

I open the Save Process box and next to the File type selection I have 2 check boxes 1. Single Shot and 2. Web Mode.

Can anyone give me a quick description of there purpose?

Thanks for any tips
Never posted a message before so hope Im in the right place
HARRY:thumbsup:
I actually posted this elsewhere but have had no respose so Im trying again.Maybe Im a little lost:shrug:

Hi Harry. :welcome: to the site.

Yep, getting a post lost in the number that get posted can happen. Especially if no one replies to it to keep it bumped to the top.

As for you question on the check boxes, I sorry I can't help you as I rarely use the DSI and only have V3.19. There are a few DSI users here. The most prolific would be EzyStyles. Hopefully he will see this and reply.

Good luck with your imaging.

I Harry can you post a couple of screen dumps of your settings and what your dialogue boxes look like.

I've just checked mine and this is what I have when I check out the Save Process dialogue

Hi and thanks for your reply.
The screen dump you sent is how the original software that came with the DSI looked. Since then it has been upgraded to allow for Drizzle , de-rotation etc. and these extra boxes have been added, I would send it to you but not sure on how to do that.

regards Harry

To do a screen dump of just hit Ctrl+PrtSc. This will copy the active window to your clip board. You can then paste it into Paint, Photoshop or what ever your prefered picture processing program is. Just adjust the size and quality so it comes in under the site restricted 150 kb. To upload use the "Go Advanced" button at the bottom of the "Quick Reply" text box at the bottom of the page. When the advanced page comes up there is a manage attachments button about half way down the page. Use that to get to the uploads dialogue.

Ok I see what you mean now. I've just downloaded the update myself and installed it and I'm now wiser :P

It's a shame Meade don't include a help file with the download.

I found a help file in Program Files>Meade>Envisage. It's a word document but doesn't offer much in the way of information about what you are looking for.

Yer , as I am totally self taught I`ve found most intsructions or manuals to be on the very basic side of an explaination

Welcome to the world of Meade

I used to have an LX200 with the LPI and the DSI and while the LX manual was ok the LPI and DSI manuals left a lot to be desired as far as details are concerned

Have you tried the DSI yahoo groups?

This has been the first time I`ve been interactive, in my quest for that (perfect) image, so thanks for your adivse. I`ll look them up and give it a go. I`m looking forward to being a contributor to your site in the future, for both information and the possability of helping beginners, get through all of those variables that raise there ugly heads when imaging the sky. This is one of the most demanding yet rewarding hobbies I could imagine. Your probably over seeing images of the southern sky but I sent my latest and greatest of the Sculptor Galaxy (Cant help myself )

It's unlikely we'll get tired of seeing images of our great skies so post away :)

If you want to see some other Southern sky images taken with the DSI and DSI II do an advanced search in the Deep Sky forum for Username EzyStyles. You'll see some of the best around

Hi Harry, welcome to the group.
I noticed those two boxes as well when I was changing some settings, at present I have not checked either of them and cannot notice any difference or change in my images.
I have posted a similar question as yours on the DSI Yahoo group as I am curious myself, I will post any answers I receive them.
You are correct the manuals are basic at best and really only a few steps above useless.

cheers

Hi Harry, I received a reply in regards to the check boxes.
As far as they know the web mode box isnt functioning yet but has been included for a future plan.
With the single shot check box this allows you to set your exposure time and will only capture a single image instead of capturing images continously until you select stop. As I take a lot of images and process the best ones I cant really see myself using this option very much.

Hope this helps

cheers
