Hi,

Been a while since I've posted a new image, been cometing.:)

IC 443 (also known as the Jellyfish Nebula and Sharpless 248 (Sh2-248)) is a Galactic supernova remnant (SNR) in the constellation Gemini.
This is quite large with a low surface brightness.

ISO 6400 really helped on this, here's a previous effort.

This is one of those nebs that is generally overlooked by southern hemisphere imagers (including me) due to its somewhat northern declination (+20deg) but it's probably not really warranted as it is high enough above most of our southern horizons to give it a good go, like NGC 253 is for most notherners...so well done Justin, nice work

I'm used to seeing this one in narrowband. Looks pretty cool in RGB too, Justin.

Thanks Mike!

Quite a few challenges low in the North, needs an exceptionally good seeing to do any good.

Thanks Rusty!

Thanks Colin! That's one thing I like about my unmodded DSLR it gives good colour range and variation.

Thanks Marc!
First time I've been able to get those faint tentacles.

Thanks Rick!

There's a few RGB images around, more detail in narrow band, that's for sure.

Nice one Justin - a quality image. I hope to be imaging this myself from a northern site soon.

Cheers

Thanks Steve!

Are you going to image in RGB or narrow band?

Thanks Rob!

I was surprised how it turned out, found it tricky to layer and balance the faint areas.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Ray!

IC 443 is a real challenge to process, hoping to see some pics from the CCD imagers.

Cheers,

Justin.
