Looks like i am back to imaging

i have had a bad run with equipment, my QHY9 had dark lines bleeding after bright stars and my mount decided to completely give up the ghost (faulty MKS5000 which was the cause of a lot of frustrating times up until this point). i have had 2 repairs under warranty, both Theo from Gamma and SB provided excellent customer service, and now everything seems to work well. fingers crossed for a issue free run of imaging.

p.s. just a quick question to paramount owners, or any person who has their mount permanently set up, do you keep your mount on and park it ready for the next night's imaging, or do you turn the power off after each session.

I still have horizontal bleed lines in my QHY9m.
I have fitted a potentiometer R27 externally but have yet to adjust it under the stars.

i will test mine out to see if it is fixed, i was able to eliminate the majority of the issue by taking a slower download time. hopefully Theo has fixed it permanently now but time will tell.

Good - all data should be captured with the slow download time.
Hopefully it's just a minor adjustment &
then I can adjust the potentiometer to the correct value & re-install it.

Aidan to answer your question regarding turning off a SB mount. I always turn mine off at the end of a session and then turn it back on at the start of the next session. It will rehome and then you are away. Good for power conservation.

Hopefully -
I have sort have called time out on imaging right now.

I use up too much of my energy at full time work to have enough left
to be out all night imaging.
I enjoy down time relaxing over the weekends too much.

I think this hobby is more for retired people which
I might be in a few years.
I'll still take a few shots now & then - till I retire.
One way to make it easier would be an observatory at a dark site
then I could really go all out.
Melbourne hardly has any clear nights & the light pollution is just awful.
People like Mike get lots of clear nights just out of Canberra.

It is scary, i have actually had a week of great weather and a functioning observatory ... the flying spaghetti monster is looking favourably on me for now

Wow! A week of good skies huh? Half ya luck :)The clouds have cleared here (mostly) but they keep appearing and dissapearing just to keep me on my toes :rolleyes: look forward to seeing your version of N44 Aidan :)

:lol: hey I do, I do :) It was just funny that after driving out, opening up, booting up etc those bloody clouds overhead that were not supposed to be there just wouldn't go away, so I decided to sit back in my picnic chair and look up at them and wait (with a wee whisky in hand)...I then read your post about all my clear nights outside Canberra :lol: It did clear around 11:30 but only for about 2.5 hrs and I went home round 2:30am with just 2hrs of data :sadeyes:
