Just a heads up if you haven't seen the tv adds.

Allans Billy Hyde (http://www.allansbillyhyde.com.au/prodcat/Guitars/Acoustic_Guitars/Acoustic_Electric/brand/Gibson.aspx) stores are having a sale and Gibson guitars are going out the door cheapish.

I picked up an J35 Acoustic today for $1999 while RRP is $3299.

Mind you it looks like NOS (new old stock). This J35 was built in September 2013. But it's a Gibson Acoustic for under $2K

How does it sound?

They left me to bash on the J35 (mahogany side and back) , J29 (rosewood side and back) and the J15 (Walnut side and back). The three in my price range. I also bashed a hummingbird and a songwriter deluxe and well over $3K for them but still cheap. Lots of bling. I prefered the tone and neck shape of the J35 but all my mates tried pushing me to the rosewood J29 for tone, but I didn't like the neck or how it played, it wasn't for me.

I got a new one cheaper than a 2nd hand one off ebay :)

There's something about nice wood with strings attached, I'm a big fan of the Australian made Cole Clarks, my Fat Lady has Qld Bunya top and good old Tassie Blackwood sides and back.

A bloke I know had his 30yo Gibson 12 string stolen and he replaced it with a Cole Clark. I'm no great judge but it sounds nice to me. Very bright.

Nice to hear about the sale.

This is my 4th Rick. That's plenty, 2 electric and 2 acoustic.
The old Les Paul is away for a fret leveling so I needed another Gibson :P

Quite right! :wink2: Now it's time to get a couple of basses or perhaps a mandolin, octave mandolin (they're cool), banjo, dobro, ukulele or, if you like a challenge, a fiddle :violin:. There are lots and lots of boxes and strings to collect.

Isn't that what Jimmy Page played?

You could be the next Jimmy Page!
