Hi all, i have been waiting months for a decent go at a few more lightning pics, and last night/this morning after work, the sky was flashing and the batteries was on charge:whistle:

I drove around chasing the flashes for at least an hour and roughly 60 kms without anything to show for it:screwy:

I packed it in and drove back home.

As soon as i was inside putting the kettle on, there was flashes everywhere outside coming through the windows:doh:

Back out in the car and another drive down to the beach in the direction of the storm front.

I finally managed a couple of good pics after thinking i had missed the show again.

Taken with the Hutech 5d and 28-105mm lens at ISO 125.

I get a huge thrill from getting these arcs in the lens, what a rush being out in mother natures most spectacular shows of force and power, i love it.

I have uploaded the high res images crooked horizons and all here http://www.southernblueastro.com/IMG_4900-01.jpg

Trevor,

Love the red hue and the reflection in the water.

You should also try getting some images of thunderstorm sprites, the 5D will be ideal for that.

:)Thanks for the comments, i really enjoy this type of photography, out there in the elements it gives me a real buzz.

Getting these on the sensor is just the cream with the cherry, very satisfying.

Good for the farmers too with the rain that comes with these storms.

Here's a combined image of three originals.

Next target, thunderstorm sprites :)
