Hi All,

It's been awhile since I've posted an image but here is
another M42, perhaps a slightly different take on it.

From the trapezium to the tenuous outer structures.

FSQ106EDXIII, FLI PL16803.
SHO 468:678:630 - 29.6hours total.

Higher res available on flickr: https://flic.kr/p/DdBucf

Lovely and deep. Some interesting areas that would be nice at long FL too.

Thanks Aidan, yeah I am keen to see it on the CDK14 once it arrives. :)

Cheers dude, it is a pretty fool proof combo. That said, the FSQ works well with just about anything. ;)

Thanks Marc, I thought about grabbing more but I had to move the scope around to fit a new focus motor.

Thanks dude :D

Thanks Andy, much appreciated.

Thanks Rick, yeah there is some cool stuff in the wider field. The raw image shows some pretty interesting features that I'll have to come back to at some stage.

Wow. That's a very dramatic presentation. Great depth and detail, and artistically appealing to me.

That has some interesting detail and it contains an object I am imaging at present too.

That is just amazing Chris. Like a surrealistic dream but with so such sharp detail. I love the reddy brown fox fur stuff throughout. Well done. Thanks for giving us a very different view of a familiar object.

Very nice one.

I think this is the first one of M42 in narrowband that looks pleasant to me.

Quite wonderful. That's going to take quite a while - many a pleasant visit - to explore.

The concentration of OIII in the centre, versus the seemingly endless folds and intricacies of the much calmer outer regions, is most remarkable.

The pair of cats ears toward 3 o'clock will bear close scrutiny.

Very best,
Mike

Wow, that's artistic! Love the cats, too :) Very original and visually impressive scene. There's so much texture in the dust around the nebula!

That looks better than when I was looking at it on your little phone screen at Bentspoke :)

Just showed Angie too, she said "Wow, that's beautiful!"
