Grabbed these guys between moon set and dawn the other night.

They are loitering around Jupiter at the moment.

Looking good for just shy of an hour and a half of data :)

Thanks guys, I'll try and get 5 hours worth around new moon if the Gods are kind.

I wonder what the optimum sub length is for this, those galaxy cores already look blown out so I don't think 10 min subs would work.

You can always go 10 min subs from now and use the data that you have already captured to tone down any blown out areas later on. Longer subs usually means better detail and picking up more of the fainter stuff.

Great work Bill, very jealous of your F ratio. I tried with my SCT recently and whilst I got reasonably good results my outcome was much dimmer than yours.

Good stuff!

Good on ya Evan, I'm going to have another crack during new moon and follow Colins' suggestion and do 10 min subs.

I would have thought your setup at f6.3 would not have been much different, unless your recent session was captured at f10.

I just had another quick look at mine (it's still in processing). The framing is similar, however mine was taken with an un-modified DSLR so I think that could be contributing towards a dim result. I'm keen to have another crack at it and run longer subs this time. It's dark enough here for 10min subs so I'll try that :)

Cheers, Evan

Well done !

Just use what you have already got and add to it.
