Wow, what an amazing image of Saturn on APOD today, taken by the orbiting Cassini spacecraft.
It shows the shadowed side of Saturn eclipsing the Sun. It gives a spectacular view of the rings quite unlike any i've seen.
Well worth checking out.

Interesting. But it would be nice to see what it really looks like, without the "exaggerated colour" processing.

Who would have thought that it would look like that.
I rate that shot on par with the one they took of Jupiter, looking up from the south pole.

What a great image! The E-ring made up of stuff from Enceladus is incredible :)

Eerie! It looks so wierd. Lovely, but wierd.
I like the way you can see Earth in the background! 'Hi Mum, can you see me waving?' :hi:
It looks a bit fake though, like it was done in some CAD program..... I'd like to see a more natural pic too.....
