Hi All,

After the disappointment of the previous weekends attempt at astrophotography, and the single sub I got between clouds on the above mentioned nebula's, we ventured back out to Wyaralong Dam, which is around hour to the South West of Brisbane.

This time I got a 4-5 hour window and in that time managed to get around 2.5 hours worth of subs. The image below is my latest attempt at the Horsehead and Flame Nebulas. The image is composed of the following:

21 x 6 mins subs at ISO800
8 x 6 mins darks
15 x bias

The telescope used was the ED120 Black Diamond Refractor and that was guided by an AZEQ6 mount. I autoguided with the synguider on an ST80 guidescope. The camera was a modded Canon 600D.

Anyway I thought I'd post this as I'm quite happy with this image and like the details I have managed to pull out. I also like how the horsehead really stands out in it.

Regards,

Tom

PS the image attached had to be compressed as the original file was too big to upload on to this forum

That's a cracker Tom! Gotta be happy with that.

BTW, it's often better to go for a smaller image and then you don't have to jpg compress it so hard.

You can always drop-box or google drive a larger version.

Cheers,
Cam

That should have been a ripper, but is very noisy, was the ambient temp
very high? I imagine that more darks might have helped.

Very beautiful image. With many details and sharp. Despite of some noise, perhaps for pull out those details.
I liked of the colors and stars shape, also.
Congratulation !
