Personally this latest one is a big let down in my opinion. George Lucas had story lines already mapped out for two new episode taking it into the future, but after he sold the rights to Disney they decided to write episodes to make maximum advantage of old characters, lucas sold out because he is downsizing his business which had just got too big to be able to profitably make the films he wanted to make - big staff numbers and overheads.

If those story lines were anything like the three prequels he penned (like many fans had feared) it surely would have sealed the fate of the franchise.

IMO Disney managed to reboot the franchise, resetting it to the spirit of the original episode (now IV) and thus gave it a future.

Lucas has become Star Wars' biggest enemy, he won't be missed.

(This from someone who's not a Star Wars fan of any description, but has a few of them in the family. I personally prefer SciFi over fantasy/soap.)

I thought the latest one was good fun!

Admittedly not very original, sure it was pretty much a re-telling of episode 4 but done well enough to forgive the obvious... and we all loved Han Solo :)

Terrific new female lead character, adorably cute BB8 droid and a reboot that sets the tone for the series to continue.

My first thought when leaving the cinema was "Thank heavens they didn't stuff it up!"

I put EP VII after V as my faves...with IV next...I think it was a big job for Disney and they came through...hopefully no remake of Back to the Future though!:)

I was disappointed with the latest version, seemed to just tick boxes of what was expected.

Like Steffan i love sci fi, can't wait for the Avatar sequels ( hope they don't stuff it up.

Now if only they would make any of Iain Banks Culture novels into movies !!!!!!

I used to be a fan of the franchise but I've grown out of it.

I'm not in any hurry to watch Episode VII but I will buy the blu-ray when it's released.

I'm a lot more excited about the new X-Files series.

i was really really disappointed with the new star wars movie. They over did the CGI and the acting was very poor. The story wasnt very well structured.

I loved it, but then I also don't take it all *too* seriously so dont buy into the hype. Unlike the 3 more recent ones (which I hated), this one felt like a Star Wars movie of the original ilk, which I liked.

Hubby and brother haven't shut up about it - they loved it. But they take it all rather seriously too!!

That was pretty much what I was thinking too. No Jar Jar Binks :scared2:

That would be awesome... if they don't stuff it up!"
