Halley discovered the globular cluster omega Cen from St Helena.
He also made the first catalogue of southern stars there.
You will be able to fly to St. Helena soon.

Once completed in 2016, a new runway on St. Helena is expected to serve air connections to Cape Town and the UK.

Important role – St. Helena has also played host to naturalist Charles Darwin and astronomer Edmond Halley -- who made use of the island's dark skies.

It would almost be better if they didn't build it.
There are very few places like St Helena left. There was a TV series recently (ABC I think) where the presenter went to every single british possession. Many were very isolated, like Tristan de Cunha.

Thanks Glen, I would love to go there to stand in the foot prints of two of my scientific hero's Edmond Halley and Charles Darwin.
It would be a real buzz to observe from there. :)
Cheers:thumbsup:
