Hi.
I would like to piggy back my Canon 6D with 135mm lens on my imaging scope and image through the scope at the same time I am using my canon. My imaging and guiding camera is an STT8300 sbig. I will use back yard EOS to control the canon but my concern is the vibration caused by mirror lock up because I can't seem to permanently lock up the mirror as it seems to be able to delay the time between mirror lock up and exposure.
It would be a great way to kill two birds with one stone.

Thanks
Mark

Are you going to do the approx same time exposures for each camera? If so, maybe set off the 6D first, then after a brief delay, do the STT8300?

Another thing to consider is if you're dithering between images. You'll have to sync the exposures for that too.

Be really surprised if you could detect the mirror flip with your main scope, but you could easily test it out.

A little off topic, but beware of the potential for capturing programs to conflict each other.
I used MaximDL for my Ccd while using BYE for my DSLR (on sky tracker). There seems be to some conflict between the two capturing programs and I occasionally get error messages. Maybe it's the simultaneous writing (if the two capturing sequences happen to end near one and the other).
They still write to the hdd ok, but there is a delay and you get a red error message.

Sounds like a great idea!
The SBIG taking prime focus guided images at 1000mm fl and the Canon sitting piggyback at 135mm fl doing wide field.
Why not!
