A consumer drone is not the best quality camera to catch a low-light subject, but sometimes one has to make do with what is at hand to capture a truly extraordinary event!

This is the rare Xmas full moon taken using my drone. The moon is bathed in Anti-crepuscular rays which are the sun rays that are pointing in the opposite direction to the setting sun. The moon is also sitting in the effect called Venus's Belt which is the dark band of the Earth's shadow rising in the East as it sets in the West.

If only I had a drone capable of lofting a DSLR!!!

Great image Jonathan. I haven't seen many anti-crespucular rays... and I look for them!

Hi,
I would really have preferred it if you had not used the term "drone"
as this, as you know, refers to those nasty US drones that drop bombs on people.

Much prefer the correct terminology as these are just toys & should be referred
to as either quadcopters, hexacopters or octocopters or to however many
arms/motors they have.

It's just that the "press" have jumped on the name which is totally in-correct.

Nice shot BTW.
There are a lot of choices, as you know, when it comes to what you want your quad to carry.
Depends on how deep your pockets are.

Stay safe & Happy New Year to all.
