I have been reading up on the Fastar option with the EDGEHD 8". It is something I would like to have a go at down the track. What I can't seem to find information on, is when I remove the Fastar lens and refit the secondary mirror assembly back into the front corrector lens, would the OTA require collimation again? Thanks for any information and advice.

I find that with a similar set-up (Meade/Hyperstar) that the secondary requires very little collimation but the Hyperstar system is usually more misaligned after a change.

Collimation is pretty easy though if you have a video camera such as the GStar which you can use to show the position of the secondary/Hyperstar on a de-focussed star image as you tweak it into position...

Thanks for the info Jonathan. I figured that as long as you're careful with the initial removal of the secondary, it shouldn't knock the alignment out. I realise the Fastar is going to be fun with its series of push and pull collimation screws. Using the video camera for collimation sounds like a good method.
