My proposal to do an "Introduction to PixInsight" workshop at NACAA has been accepted and the workshop will be an all day affair on 28 March 2016.
Hope to meet a few IISers on the day. Unfortunately, the attendance is capped at a fairly small number as it is difficult to be hands on with a large group.
Cheers,
Rick.

Will the sessions be recorded Rick?
Not sure if i can make it there.

I'm not sure if it will be recorded, Kev, but I suspect that a recording would be of limited value. The intention is to spend a lot of time with the attendees doing hands on stuff.
Cheers,
Rick.

I would like to attend but am still waiting for my application for a NACAA account to be processed.
Put it in on Tuesday, hope there is some places left when, if, I can register.

Hi Greg,
I haven't had an update on numbers for a while. I'll go ask...
Geoff45 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/member.php?u=1158) is coming and has kindly offered to help so we can probably handle a few extra people.
Cheers,
Rick.

Hi Greg
Glad that is sorted for you. I'm certain the PixInsight workshop will be amazing - having seen Rick's images (I'm looking at one now on the AAQ's Calendar), I know how good he is at this stuff.

I hope you can join us for the rest of NACAA - we've had a brilliant range of speakers offer papers this year, and I am looking forward to seeing them all in action.
The full NACAA Programme, including extra workshops like PixInsight can be found here: http://www.nacaa.org.au/2016/programme

PS. I'd love to do something about the weather, but a couple of us are busy trying to work out how to develop "cloud filters", so weather manipulation might have to wait! :-)

Just a quick update on the workshop. It was fully booked and a number of IIS denizens attended, including Geoff Smith, Greg Bradley, Pete Velez and Murray Parkinson. Geoff kindly offered to act as a tutor for the day and did a brilliant job.
I think the workshop went pretty well apart from trying to cram too much stuff into a single day. Next time it will need to be at least a couple of days to cover the basics and still allow plenty of prac time. In fact, it wouldn't be too hard to fill a whole week with a LRGB workflow, narrowband workflow and a day or two for advanced topics.
According to the feedback forms and verbal comments everybody enjoyed the day and even the more experienced users learned a few new tricks. It was certainly educational for me and also great to meet everyone face to face, especially the folks I've known electronically from IIS for a while.
I'm looking forward to the next one - probably in Brisbane a bit later this year.
Cheers,
Rick.

Hi Rick,
Any news on another PI workshop in Australia, either by yourself or the PI team?
Thanks

Hi Kim,
As David mentioned, I'll be doing some mini-workshops at Astrofest (three afternoon sessions squeezed in between lunch and afternoon set up time.)
I'd like to do a multi-day workshop some time this year but my day job has been keeping me too busy to really think about it.
I haven't heard from Vicent or other members of the PI team for a while. I think the logistics of an event here are a bit challenging.
Cheers,
Rick.
