Where to buy the cable?

I'm looking for the cable that connects the Skywatcher EQ6 Synscan hand controller to the mount head.

It's the coiled one with the RJ-45 connector on one end which plugs into the HC and the DB9 on the other for plugging into the mount.

Anyone know where I can buy one new?

For this price, you might be better off making your own. Just trawl the net and get the pin outs.:thumbsup:

I guess that's how some manufacturing folk make their money. Produce a very specific item for a very specific product, for which you can charge like a wounded bull?

Jase - thanks for your reply. I really don't need 5 metres of cable to connect my SynScan hand controller to my EQ6:eyepop:

I'm talking with Rob McIntyre @ Tasco tomorrow. Hopefully he'll be able to find me a replacement cable at a reasonable cost.:)

Hah, $45 is cheap! The Tak auto guider cable for my EM200 is priced at US$180.00, but suppliers generously discount this to US$150.00, or approx A$200 !!!!!!!

Needless to say, I purchased an 8 Pin Min-DIN Macintosh printer cable from Jaycar for $8.00, cut off one end and then soldered on an RS232 9 pin D connector. Works just fine!

I was enjoying that article right up to the point where it talks about removing the rear cell.

As soon as he started describing putting forceps near the primary and loosening nuts and bolts with mm's of that mirror... I got scared. Very scared:scared:

I might leave the flocking until the scope is well and truly out of warranty and my protectiveness toward it has completely evaporated;)
