Planning to image the Rosette in January on my next trip to Crago.
I did some test shots of the region from home just to get an idea of the field of view with my 250mm lens and Canon 600D (unmoded).

I was very surprised with the result. 16 x 25 sec subs ISO3200 at about f5.4,

Looking forward to imaging it under a much darker sky with many more subs. Would like to give my newly moded 450D a try at this also.

Hard to see on the jpg but nice widefield! The 450 should get more Ha for sure.

Thanks Russ. I've uploaded a more contrasty version.
I was surprised that I could get something from light polluted Sydney.
Will post the dark sky version in due course.

Richard.

Here is my effort with an unmodded Olympus OMD EM1 and Zuiko Digital 150mm F2.0 lens wide open from memory exposure time was about 10mins from 20X 30 second subs under a fairly dark sky but some light pollution from gold coast I think my camera if pretty sensitive to H Alpha even unmodded.
