Well, after much anticipation I saw it. Harrison ford was good. Thats about all I have to say about that :shrug:

I found the original movies much more engaging (better directing and acting) than the second 3; where does this one sit?

For mine it sits very comfortably with Episodes IV, V and VI from the point of view of engagement wrt acting and directing.

There is a LOT more story going on in VII, some of which we were only given snippets of and will probably have to wait until VIII and IX to fill in the gaps and answer the new crop of questions.

The new characters Finn and Rey are great - especially Rey. For mine the jury is still out on Kylo Ren - mainly because his charater wasn't quite what I expected. For Han and Chewie it was like they had never left.

From an effects point of view the lack of cgi was actually very refreshing. Loved the cinematography and effects.

I saw a 3D screening early Thursday evening and was pleasnatly surprised that I didn't have to rest my eyes at any stage. I'm hoping to go and see it again at an iMax theatre as this is where the movie is said to really shine.

I think Mark Hamill said it best though:

"You've been here, but you don't know this story... Everything’s changed, but nothing’s changed...."

Whichever way it goes I hope that you enjoy it when you do see it.

Saw in it 3D at the xtreme cinema. Loved every bit of it. Death star on steroids, new ADHD young vader, new ships/characters designs.What's not to like. And of course the quirky humour that only JJ Abrams can stick it there now and then. Two thumbs up from me. :2thumbs:

Yeah.. If I wanted to see:

- Desert planet
- Storm troopers after plans/map in droid
- Death Star blow up Planet
- Lightsaber fight
- Good guy die
- Blow up Death star

I would have put "A new hope" in the dvd player.

Saw it Friday with the boy child and again on Saturday with the wife.
Looks like a normal star wars flick to me.
This is the fist one I've seen at a cinema.
No jar jar binks type characters which is a plus.
No political plot/intrigue which is a plus.
Just old style good Vs evil and really good CGI.

Disney'll get their purchase money back in one weekend of release.

Went with a large group of follow Star Wars diehards last night and saw the 3d version. I tried not to read much about it or read any reviews beforehand I just wanted to go and enjoy the movie. It was simply great :) agree with what Paul has mentioned earlier, thankfully the cgi enhances the movie and doesn't overwhelm the film like the prequels. Thought Daisy Ridleys does a excellent job with her character Rey, and seeing Han and Chewie again freaking awesome.

Saw it in 3D today with Miss 7.

I had different hopes, but it was OK. The character of Rey tries to act WAAAAY too hard and it looks and sounds bad. No where near as poor as that twerp that played Anakin in the prequels, but still too solid. (yes, solid is a good word). Max Von Sydow was utterly wasted - we don't even really get to know anything about who he is/was (maybe YET).

I found the Kylo Ren voice grating - the finesse of James Earl Jones' Vader timbre is gone, with the new baddie having a voice reminiscent of a cheesy voice changer you can buy in Kmart for $5... perhaps JJ deliberately made the voice annoying to make you hate him - first glimpse of his face was disturbing enough :P

Captain Phasma looked like a Cylon. Interesting they never pulled off her helm, but perhaps JJ thought people seeing a well-known Game of Thrones star might ruin some of the escape into another galaxy feel.

The CGI was VERY well executed - I particularly loved the scenes with the ruined Star Destroyers on Jakku. The welcome return of some favourite secondary figures, aliens and spacecraft was comforting and homely.

Wonderful to see Hans, Leia, Luke, Chewy, R2 and 3PO back. Mark Hamill certainly had a lot of lines to learn :P :D :) And yes, THAT scene on the bridge DAMNED WELL DIDN'T NEED TO HAPPEN! :(

Enough to like, enough to wince. It's an above average film for me. Ranking it with the rest of the franchise, it ranks 4th to me (out of 4...the prequels cannot even be considered Star Wars IMHO!)

You forgot a "cantina" scene and a Millenium Falcon chase scene too btw.

Next movie someone should lose a body part. Not sure what the equivalent to the asteroid field chase will be. Maybe a straight copy? And the reveal - let's see Rey will be the daughter of who? Snoke? :D
