Hi all - I've just come across what looks like a new Australian astronomy equipment buy/sell site that's trying to get off the ground. Paul (the webmaster, who looks like a keen amateur) has put some effort in as it seems quite functional. While there are lots of specific telescope buy/sell sites around, there are few that cater specifically to the Aussie market.

FYI - I'm not affiliated with his project, I've just mentioned it here for you to peruse if you wish. He did email me at my Omaroo site asking me to have a look at it for him and apologised for the unsolicited email. I have no problems with that type of mail if it comes with a personal apology. I don't know how commercially successful it could be, but congratulations on him attempting it anyway!

Ads for individuals are free.

Good luck to Paul and his endeavour! :)

Nice price on the Nagler on the front page, either the Nagler is worth $40,000 or the
Meade 10-inch LX200 Classic $20.00 lol decimal points are missing.

Thanks for the heads up!! it's always good to have another source for gear and a place
to sell stuff.

regards,CS sunny days

I think Paul lives in the UK, he's got a similar one running for the locals in the UK which seems to be very popular:

Looks like he's setting one up for Aussie's as well.

Good luck with it Paul, another place to pick up used astro gear is always a good thing.

Yep it's a very good looking site, I got the heads up on from another forum group and went and had a look. It must have only just started as there was only three items for sale and one was a test ad. It shows a lot of promise though so I have put it in my favourites list.

cheers

I saw this link on CN for the new AU clasifieds site by Paul and he also mentioned his UK site.
If the UK site is anything to go buy this will be an excellent addition to Aus Amature Astronomy.
I have searched through another similar site previously that uses the same layout.

Guys,
Thank you for the positive feedback and warm welcome!
I was very concerned I'd be chased away as a "foreign intruder" !!:eyepop:

Just a bit of background - I've been doing astro-classified since 1984 for my club's newsletter. I then ran a BBS (remember 300 baud modems?!) and took care of classified ads on the BBS. The the internet came about so I moved on to that media.

AstroBuySell.com has been running in its current format for Canada since 2001, and for the UK since 2003. I've been meaning to do one for Australia for many years, but you know what it's like... no time! Anyhow, it's finally done! The site is solid and well tested and specifically designed for astronomy classifieds.

By the way, some of my acquaintances are folks you might know: Doug George from MaxIM DL, Jim Kendrick from the Kendrick line of products, and Pedro Braganca from Starry Night software (all Canadian products!)

In the next few weeks and months I will try my best to promote the site (without overdoing it) so that buyers and sellers will come together on AstroBuySell. Please help to spread the word!:)

Many thanks,
Paul.
