Last night was magnificent! I tried out my new WO 2.3mm eyepiece and it was stunning. I wasn't tracking the moon so the speed with which the image "skated" through my field of view was amazing. The quality of the produced image was breathtaking. Though, my Teleview 8mm delivered a fuller and more satisfying result.
I also took some photos of the moon. The following image one was taken last night. I added some colour and sharpened the image. This is the first time I have edited an Astro image. Nothing fancy... the editing suite was freeware, I guess you get what you pay for.....
I should also add... The scope I used was purchased for $50 off Ebay. I believe it is an Achromat, there are no details on the scope. The objective is I guess 5", with a Badder Apo filter the images the scope produces are far and away distant from $50 as is it is possible to imaginable.
I have a WO 71mm Apo and this $50 Achro gives the WO Doublet a serious run for its money. In fact, I would go as far as saying the images produced by the "No-Name" Achro are superior to the images produced by the WO Doublet.
Though in fairness the images from the WO Doublet are sharper, yet you still have to remind yourself when looking through the Apo that the tech behind the Apo is superior to the "No Name" Achro.
