Hi,

does anyone have any experience of this scope? Any good for CCD imaging? Need a flattener? Optical quality?

Looking at it as a faster alternative to a Skywatcher ED80

cheers
Gary

The ED80 although being slower is also only a doublet. The SkyWatcher Esprit 80mm is the triplet comparison and that is a super quick F/5 :)

A good doublet will eat an average triplet any day of the week.

The issue with ES (apart from the focuser) is the variable quality of the optics and construction. The 127ED I had showed more CA and halo than any SW ED80 i had.

Very true! The Televue NP series speak for themselves. Then again, so does the price tag :eyepop:
